I've always had a thing for Northern Europe fashion labels. Maybe it's for their minimalistic approach to design that makes their clothes understated, evergreen and wearable day-to-night, season after season. Or perhaps it's because their creations are so androgynous and sleek that every item has the ability to donate an edge to any outfit, making you look like a power-woman!
One of my favourites of the moment is the Dutch brand Avelon.
Under the guidance of creative director Erik Frenken (former Viktor & Rolf designer) they are at their third collection, the S/S'12. Deliberately distancing themselves from mainstream trends, they take inspiration from real metropolitan people who want to actually live their clothes by merging many different styles into one outfit... just as I like it!
This is why Avelon can be defined as a "Luxury street wear label" whose identity comes from unpredictable
combinations of elegant designs and rough detailing, fine fabrics and raw cuts.
Avelon's signature is: leather detailing!
You can find it on pretty much everything: from their skinny jeans, to oversized tops and biker jackets with zipped removable sleeves (yes, they can be transformed into waistcoats!!)

I just love their tailored pieces, silky boyish shirts and futuristic dresses!
