Mr O. # 26: Hedi Slimane Named New Creative Director at Yves Saint Laurent.
After Stefano Pilati's farewell during his last A/W 12 collection in Paris on March 5th, there were many speculations about who would take the helm of the creative direction at Yves Saint Laurent. Today it has been confirmed that Hedi Slimane, the French designer turned photographer, who led the menswear division of the label from 1997 to 2000 before moving on to design at Dior Homme, will return to YSL with ‘total creative responsibility for the brand image and all its collections’.
Hedi Slimane had created stagewear for groups such as The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand and The Kills and artists such as David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Jack White. Inventor of the rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic with his Black Tie collection for Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche A/W 2000-01 he signed the debut of "skinny". And we thank him for this! In the end: what is hotter than a man in a edgy skinny suit?!
I just can't wait to see what innovations he will bring to the YSL Womenswear pre-collection. Roll on June!

Mr O. # 24: Biker Jacket... Anyone?
Although I am a very wintery person, clothes-wise I also like the "in between" seasons because the temperature is mild enough to allow you to leave a few layers of knits behind, but still that little bit chilly to require the use of a light coat or a leather jacket.
And what is better than a zipped biker jacket to go through Spring feeling a bit Fonzarelli and a bit more tough?
When I had teenagers crisis like "I have nothing to wear!!", my mum used to solve the problem with a "Just wear jeans and a T-shirt and you'll be fine". Yeh, as if it was that easy!
But now I do follow her advice and I just throw my biker jacket over this simple outfit and... Man, I feel cool!

For this S/S 12 designers have made them in array of colours and in different materials, from neutrals shades to bright ones and from leather to silk and wool-blend. My favourite is the peach one by Acne, although I prefer to stick to my black vintage one which I bought years ago at Portobello market: it is a real biker jacket, with big shoulders and thick leather...the best in world!!
Here's my Top Designer Chart:

Mr O. #21: 150/15 by Darcel Disappoints at Colette
"And a miserable day to you too"(Darcel)
Darcel Disappoints is a blog by New York based artist Craig Redman that chronicles all disappointing moments encountered by the protagonist, Darcel, through his everyday life in downtown NY. Darcel gets drunk at openings, is bored at times, goes shopping, goes to the restaurant and everything, always casting a cynical (singular) eye on the stuff that surrounds him.
In occasion of Colette's 15th Anniversary, for the first time an exhibition is dedicated e entirely to Darcel who has recreated portaits in the unique Darcel monochole likeness, featuring celebrity personalities from Colette’s expansive story thus far; from musicians Kanye West, and Lady Gaga to photographer Juergen Teller and designer Karl Lagerfeld.
I find them just adorable! Here are my favourites.

Mr O. #20: S/S 12 Must-Have: Khaki Parka
My best buy of 2012 so far? It's got to be my beloved khaki military parka! I bought in Paris during one of my vintage shopping trips dans Les Marais, the trendy district of La Ville Lumière.
In Paris buying vintage (called "fripes") is ridiculously cheap compared to London, perhaps due to the fact that Parisians are so chic that they prefer designer stuff so they don't really bother getting their hands dirty rummaging through second hand clothes? I dont' know, I am just guessing... but sure is that I do like spending hours in finding the ultimate fashion bargains!
My favourite shop is Free'P'Star, a Parisian institution in matter of vintage, with prices from as little as 1 Euro! Can you believe it? Obviously you must be provided with a good eye and a lot of patience as the shop is very narrow and always crowded in clothes and people. But, hey, it is totally worth it! Denim Levi's shirts, military jackets, leather jackets, 60's-70's-80's dresses all for €10!
Plus it is perfectly in line with the Utility trend seen on the catwalks of the S/S12 collections!
And my parka... Ah it is SO cool! It is waterproof (perfect for London's rainy weather!) and it looks great worn with a vintage T-shirt (I have a customised Nike one which is perfect), highwaisted jeans and heels for a very relaxed yet cool urban look. The khaki colour is very flattering and I love it combined to blue denim and grey fleece.

These are some parkas from various brands in case you are looking for one (if you are not, YOU SHOULD!)

Mr O. #19: Balenciaga Inc./JOIN A WEIRD TRIP
“It’s an idea I’ve had for a few years, about corporate clothes, and business-dressing. I wanted to play with it. So I imagined a company, Balenciaga Inc., and what all the different women would wear to work there...” Nicolas Ghesquière

Mr O. #16: CÉLINE S/S 12 Platform Pumps
It's decided: my investment for the Spring/Summer will be a pair of these CÉLINE pumps.
Aren't they Perfection Made Shoes?
With their chunky heel and smart platform, they must be as comfy as sleepers! And I bet that they make your legs look loooooong!
Now, dilemma: what colour to go for? Phoebe Philo, why do you always have to make our life SO difficult?

Mr O. #15: Go Heavy on the Metal(lics)
Spring has finally sprung!
Time to pack those dark heavy clothes away and brighten up our life! The password is: shine!
And what's better than a chromed piece of wardrobe to embrace (and reflect) the sunlight?
Designers have shown a broad use of metallics in their SS12 collections: we have seen them on everything from dresses to tops, trousers and blazers. Shades variated from foil-like silver to aquamarine, blush pink and pastel colours.
I already own a few mirrored pieces that I can now proudly wear without having my friends laughing at me for not being very...understated, let's say.
I love them matched with a plain white T-shirt or a white mens shirt.

Oh... and for the black-lovers-never-mind-the-season there are also some darker tones of metallics, like these ones below.
